Financial Arrangements
Because I do not take insurance, I offer a sliding scale, from $50-$150 per session. The first meeting is exploratory, and free of charge. If we feel it appropriate to continue after that, we’ll agree on a per session fee in accord with your circumstances, and set a frequency of work – generally starting at once a week, although a greater or lesser frequency may subsequently become appropriate. If so desired, creative process work or work with recurring dreams may be engaged on a less regular schedule; that is, on more of a “when material manifests” basis.
Initial Contact
My office is in Northampton MA on Stoddard Street. Telephone or electronic messages for me can be left at the number or e‑mail address at the bottom of the page. I will respond as soon as my schedule permits.
My Education & Training
My psychological education has been centered on psychodynamic psychotherapy, especially Jungian and Post-Freudian approaches to the psyche. Gestalt theory and practice, Imaginal Psychology, Ericksonian hypnotherapy, and Internal Family Systems have also been strong influences. I received my B.A. from Amherst College, my M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design, and my M.A. (Counseling Psychology with a Depth Orientation) from the Pacifica Graduate Institute. In addition, I spent four years in analytical training at the C. G. Jung Institute, Boston, have completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing professional training, and am personally familiar with the mindfulness practices of several traditions.
Important Note
Prior to COVID-19, I only worked virtually with people who I’d already established face-to-face rapport with, and who were temporarily out of state or out of the country. To my surprise (and to the surprise of the majority of my colleagues) the assumption that successful therapy was dependent on practitioner and client being present in the same room has turned out to be untrue.
Until the pandemic is well and truly over, I will only be working virtually, on an encrypted HIPAA-compliant platform. And while I do look forward to getting back to in-person work, my experience with interfacing electronically has already led me to open my practice to clients who do not live within driving distance and whom I may never actually meet in the flesh.
